Climate and Care for Her

When disaster hits an informal settlement, it is teenage girls and young women who pick up most of the unpaid care work — cooking, fetching water, and looking after the sick and the young. I designed and led Youth and Urbanism's response in Mathare: community dialogues, forums that bring men and boys into the conversation, girls' health and rights outreach, and school programmes. The work ended in a clear set of policy recommendations, supported by Avina and the Embassy of Portugal.
