Experience

Work & roles

  1. 2020 – Present

    Founder & Chief Executive Officer

    Youth and Urbanism (Y&U)

Founded and lead a youth-led organisation that helps young people in informal settlements take part in planning their own neighbourhoods. I set the strategy, mobilised the funding base from scratch — over KES 16.7 million to date — and oversee programmes, finances, partnerships, and a growing team.

  2. 2023 – 2024

Youth Champion — Children, Climate & Disaster Risk

    UNICEF

Represented young people in shaping UNICEF's child-centred climate and disaster-risk modelling work.

  3. 2022 – 2024

Youth Project Officer — Voices for Just Climate Action

    Hivos International

Ran Y&U's delivery of the programme day to day — keeping the work on track and reporting results back to the funder.

  4. 2021 – 2022

Project Research Intern — UNESCO Chair (HEDGES)

    UNESCO

Helped develop academic research on the green economy and organised capacity-building webinars for universities.

    Research Assistant

    Plan International Kenya

Worked with the research and learning team on the baseline survey behind Plan's 2022–2026 country strategy for Kenya.

  6. 2021

    Associate Auditor

    Dotts Solutions Kenya

Carried out environmental, occupational health and safety, and risk-assessment audits across firms and prepared the reports.

  7. 2019 – 2021

Youth Ambassador & Global Winner — Generation Unlimited

    UNICEF

Global winner under the environmental pillar; rallied young people in informal settlements around climate action and gender inclusion.

  8. 2019 – 2021

Youth Project Officer — Safe and Inclusive Cities

    Plan International

Ran the Safe and Inclusive Cities programme in Mathare — safer streets, more opportunity, and a real say for residents in local decisions.

  9. 2017 – Present

Project Coordinator & Head of Programs
